Green Energy

As part of a continuing effort to "Go Green", Interstate Cold Storage has contracted with Madison Industrial Lighting to complete a lighting upgrade for all of it's facilities. "In addition to the great energy savings and ROI , this helps to create a safer and more pleasant work enviroment for our employees" says  Scott Parker, Interstate's Director of Operations. Work will begin in early October at the first site and will be completed by the 1st quarter of 2010.

The new high bay flourecent fixtures will tremendously reduce the amount of heat generated by the traditional High Pressure Sodium or Metal Halide fixtures. "The technology just wasn't there 5 years ago for flourecent freezer lighting, but with the improved fixtures, motion sensors,  and ballasts, the tax incenetives and rebate programs from the Utilitiy Companies just help it make sense" adds Parker.  The upgrade will include all areas of the facilities, including office, dock, and warehouse lighting.
